FAQ's about VVR
What is a VVR?It is a permit for the purpose of study . It allows you to live, study and work (10 hours per week) in the Netherlands for one year.

What is the validity of a VVR?A VVR is valid for one (academic) year. You have to renew the permit every year.

When do I renew my VVR?You have to apply for a renewal of your VVR within four weeks of the expiry date. If you are too late, the renewal can be refused, and you have to go home to start the MVV procedure again!

How do I renew my VVR?You will get a letter from the Immigration and Naturalisation Service to renew your permit. You have to send an application form, proof of registration for next academic year, proof of health insurance and proof of having enough money for the coming year. You also have to pay legal dues again of 52 (from July 1, 2005). For EU/EEA students this amount is 30 (from July 1, 2005).

I will be in the Netherlands for my holidays. Can I apply for a VVR directly?No, if you come from a country that requires an MVV, you have to be in the possession of an MVV before you can apply for a VVR.
If you re in the MVV procedure it is not allowed to visit the Netherlands, not even for holidays.

I want to change my studies. Do I have to apply for a new MVV or can I renew the VVR?You are allowed to renew your VVR for a new course without a new MVV.
